PM Orders MoH to Vaccinate More Than 70,000 People Previously Denied Medical Treatment

KOH KONG: Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered Ministry of Health Spokesperson and Chairman of the National Committee for Covid-19 Vaccination, Or Vandin, to review the possibility of vaccinating the 70,000 people who were previously denied medical treatment due to health problems. This statement was made while presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony of the expansion of National Road No. 48 in Koh Kong Province on Monday morning.

The Prime Minister said that he was happy to see people in Cambodia participate in the New Year celebrations. He added that fortunately the status of Covid-19 has not erupted in the community, however, he still urged citizens to continue maintaining safety measures and getting vaccinated for the virus. In this regard, the Prime Minister ordered the Ministry of Health to review vaccinating more than 70,000 people who had previously been refused vaccination by doctors in the past due to health complications.

The Prime Minister said, "In the past, at the Ministry of National Defense, Minister Tea Banh ordered vaccinations but no one could get vaccinated. Doctors did not allow vaccination. Suddenly, when they all received vaccinations, nothing happened! Now, let's review the more than 70,000 people doctors did not let receive vaccination, please review this problem.”

He further continued, “Some diseases can be vaccinated against, people with history of asthma could not get vaccinated, but they were only born with asthma, [according to doctors] it is forbidden to get vaccinated when someone has history of asthma, they are not allowed to receive vaccination only when they have asthma, some people only have asthma when they are young but until they are 40 years old they cannot receive vaccination because of a history of asthma. No, they are not allowed to inject when they have asthma, not because of a history of asthma."

According to the National Vaccination Report, more than 14.3 million people have been vaccinated in Cambodia so far, of which more than 14.2 million have been fully vaccinated.
